Tommy W. Hampton, 60 years old, passed away at 9:19 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on June 1, 1965 in Hobart, IN. He has been a resident of North Liberty. On March 2, 1984 in Hobart, Tom and Patricia L. Lane were united in marriage.
Along with Patricia, his loving wife of 42 years, Tom is survived by their two children, Aleah (Joshua) Garza of LaPorte and Joshua Hampton of North Liberty; his mother, Flonnietta Hampton of London, KY; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Alex) Wilkie, Matthew Johnston, Leah Garza and Jackie Garza. Tom is also survived by his sister, Joanne Purkey of Hobart. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Hampton; and his brother, Wayne Hampton.
Tom worked at U.S. Steel from which he retired. He more recently worked for Town Center, Inc. for the last few years. Tom loved and was so devoted to his family. His whole life was his grandchildren with whom he shared a special bond. He loved having the family for barbecues, especially every June 1st on his birthday. Spending time with his family was what he enjoyed the most and he will be greatly missed. I struggle thinking about how I’m going to get along without him. I’ve known him for 44 years, married for 42. We were babies when we got married and grew up together as our babies grew. Tom had a great sense of humor and was easy to be around. He made friends so easily. I am counting the days when we can meet again. I know he is in a far better place now with no more pain. He’s up there in heaven with his family that preceded him, and his favorite dog, Teddy.
Per Tom’s wishes, there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home-North Liberty Chapel is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tommy W. Hampton may be donated to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnette Drive, South Bend, IN 46614. Online condolences may be offered to Tom’s family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
