Travis Nelson Obituary

My CHILD, My SON, My BROTHER, My Cousin, My Family, My Friend, TRAVIS LAMAR NELSON (TBone) was called home by the LORD on March 31, 2021, as he slept, at the age of 26 years old.

Travis was born on November 2, 1994 in South Bend, IN and attended Penn High School in Mishawaka. He later moved to Fort Wayne, IN, where he graduated from Leo High School. His great-aunt, Percilla Lacy, opened her home and her heart to raise Travis. He loved playing football and he loved his family and friends. Travis loved the LORD with all his heart. He worked at Moreau & Sons Concrete Inc. for several years and various other positions with different companies. Travis never met a stranger. He loved everybody and always had a smile on his face. His personality was like no other. He made you laugh when you didn’t want to.

Leaving to celebrate his life are his mother, Felicia (Papa Smurf) Sims; grandmother Ora Lee Lacy (Polly);  aunt Lakysha (Eddie) Thomas; brothers Terrance Peterson and Tyran Nelson; sister Tyresha Peterson Suggs; two beloved cousins he was raised with as siblings: Donald Clay, Jr. and Rashanda Harper; special cousins Renita (Michael) Cutler, Zigkel Montgomery, Dameon Smith, Andrew Patterson, Michael Burnett and Moses Smith; great aunties Elizabeth Burnett and Loretta Burnett and great uncle Michael Townsend, all of Indiana. He also leaves a hosts of cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends who he treasured.

Travis is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Leora (Bright Eyes) Dillard, who raised him until 2003 and his best friend, Slate Anthony in 2021.
