Troy Marek Obituary

Troy Allen Marek, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world peacefully on January 14, 2026, in South Bend, IN, at the age of 53. Born on August 8, 1972, in Plymouth, IN, to Allen "Bud" Marek and Constance "Connie" (Hostetler) Marek, Troy lived a life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and community involvement.

A proud graduate of John Glenn High School class of 1990, Troy carried the determination and team spirit nurtured in his youth throughout his life. On July 21, 1990, in North Liberty, Troy married the love of his life, Betsy (Wilson) Marek. Together, they built a beautiful family and a legacy of love that will echo for generations.

Troy dedicated 28 years of his life to his craft as a union painter with Local 1118 and was a respected employee of Stan's Painting for the majority of his career. His skilled hands and keen eye for detail left a colorful imprint on the world, a silent yet vivid testament to his hard work.

Known for his kind heart and warmth, Troy was an active member of the Sons of American Legion Post 189 in Walkerton for many years. His service to others through various community events and activities earned him the admiration and respect of his peers.

Outdoor adventures were among Troy's greatest joys, and he could often be found deer hunting, a pastime that brought him peace and closer to nature. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Troy took delight in cheering on his team, celebrating their victories, and standing by them in defeat.

Cherishing his memory are his loving wife, Betsy; daughter, Gabrielle (Michael) Filosa; son, Jacob (Victoria) Marek; beloved grandchildren, Egan, Isaac, and Luca; sister, Stacy (Michael) Walsh; brother, Todd (Jeanine) Marek;Grandmother and coffee buddy Delores Hostetler; niece, Alana Wilson; nephew, Aaron (Jordan) Marek; great-niece, Eleanor; and numerous cousins who will miss his guidance and humor.

At this time per Troy’s wishes there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with final arrangements.
