Verna Jean (Landgraf) Cohee

Verna "Jean" (Landgraf) Cohee,  88, residing in Mishawaka, IN, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical, Mishawaka, IN.

She was born December 8, 1926 in Mishawaka, IN, a daughter of Clyde B. & Margurite (Smith) Landgraf, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. 

In 1954 in Mishawaka, IN she was united in marriage to Leon Robert Cohee.  They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until his passing in May 2007.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Olson, Mary Alice Richards, and Joyce Lilves, and a step-son Clifford Cohee.

Jean retired from the St. Joseph County Welfare Dept., and was a die-hard Cubs fan.  She and Leon adored their nieces and nephew, and often took them on many trips throughout the years.  Jean was especially grateful to have her nephew Gregory Lilves so close to her.  He has taken wonderful care of her in many ways for the past eight years since Leon passed away.

She is survived by a brother in law Allen Lilves and four nieces, Kathy(Ron) O'Dell of North Liberty, IN; Cindi (Bob) Condon of South Bend, IN; Debbie (Randy) Johnson of LaPaz, IN; and Sandy Ference of Florida; and her nephew Gregory (Brenda) Lilves of North Liberty, IN. 

The family will plan for a private memorial service at a later date.  She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Leon at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
