Warren Klenk Obituary

Warren Alan Klenk, 90 years old, passed away at 1:03 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Ernestine M. Raclin House, at the Center for Hospice Care.  Warren was born on November 14, 1935, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Charles W. Klenk and Margaret (Strandberg) Klenk.  On August 11, 1956, in Detroit, Warren married Joanne Edwards, and God gave them nearly 69 years together, until her death in April 2025. As a teenager, Warren had surrendered his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ.  After Bible School, he felt God’s leading into missionary aviation, but God re-directed him into airline mechanics, where he would learn skills that served him well through the rest of his life. With Joanne, he served in ministry in Michigan, northern Minnesota, El Paso, Texas, and in Mexico as an assistant pastor, Christian school administrator, pastor, and missionary.  For many summers, he drove mission groups into Mexico, taking Bible portions and preaching the Gospel in ranches that had never heard of Jesus Christ.  He and Joanne moved into northern Mexico         full-time in 1998, where he mentored Mexican pastors and helped to start numerous churches in Chihuahua State.

Warren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He truly loved people, and he loved his Savior.  He kept a life-long love for aviation.  He could build or fix almost anything in a vehicle or around the house.  In his later years, he enjoyed watching the backyard birds, listening to hymns, and reading.

He is survived by his three children, Sharon Klenk of South Bend, Beth Frushour (Steve Bradley) of South Bend, and Jon (Jane) Klenk of Mapleton, MN; grandchildren, Stephen (Allison) Frushour, Jenni (Matt) Hagen, Jeff Klenk, Matthew (Braelyn)  Frushour, James Frushour, Haleigh Frushour (Trey Metheny), and Jamie Klenk; great grandchildren, Bentley, Easton, Marshal, and a baby great-granddaughter on the way; one sister, Sharon (William) Kendrick; and many nieces and nephews.  He also has a close family of sons, daughters, grandchildren, and friends in Mexico, from their years of service there.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, beginning at 3:00 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 pm, at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend, IN 46614.
