Wiley Wear, age 84, of Westfield, Indiana, entered into eternal rest at 9:05 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Life’s Journey in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Born on May 11, 1941, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Wiley was the beloved son of Robert Wear and Carrie (Orr) Taylor. In 1946, he made his home in Indiana, where he would build a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to family.
Wiley dedicated 35 years of his life to the building trade as a bricklayer, retiring in 1999 from Verkler Company. He was known for his strong work ethic and the pride he took in his craft. Through the years, he not only helped build structures but also built lasting friendships and a legacy of perseverance.
On December 27, 1982, in South Bend, Indiana, Wiley united in marriage with the love of his life, Lowree (Owens) Wear. Together they shared years of devotion, partnership, and cherished memories.
A man of faith, Wiley was a long time member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. His life reflected his belief in God, and he trusted in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. He found comfort in Scripture and strength in prayer, and he leaves behind a testimony of steadfast faith.
Wiley was blessed with a loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lowree Wear; his children, Angela (Rev. Eugene) Fisher, Dana (Kenneth) Musepatika, Gail (KaRon) Kirkland, Tonya Chambers, and Richard Wear; and seven cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda (Rodney) Clark; his brothers, James Taylor and Michael Taylor; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Wear; his sister, Princess Neely; and his brother, Nathan Sharp.
Wiley will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind spirit, and the love he shared with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Memorial Service celebrating Wiley’s life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Progressive Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Berry Spencer officiating. Friends may gather from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Wiley will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery at a later date.
