William Waldron Obituary

William (Bill) Waldron, 91, of South Bend passed away in his home Friday, January 20, 2023.

Bill was born September 6, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Ralph B. Waldron and Mildred S. (Bruner) Waldron.

On June 23, 1952, Bill married Sharon Viola Holm in South Bend, Indiana, and they spent a beautiful 70 years together.  They are survived by their two children: Susan (Phil) Nemeth of South Bend, Indiana and Mark (Karen) Waldron of New Carlisle, Indiana. Also surviving are five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his sister Joyce M. Casper.

Upon graduating from Greene High School, Bill was employed as a draftsman at the Bendix Missile Plant in Mishawaka until entering the U.S. Navy in December 1951 where he served eight years on active and reserve duty.  After receiving an honorable discharge, he resumed his position at Bendix before moving on to, among other ventures, Associated Truck Lines, then retired in 1994.

Whether it was traveling around the country with Sharon, golfing, or building birdhouses, Bill made the most of his years after a life of hard work. For everyone who knew Bill, all would agree that he was always there for his family and friends, a loving grandfather, father, and husband. He was devoted to his church and his faith, and treated strangers as friends, and friends as family. Bill will be missed, but always remembered, loved, and cherished. Sleep well Big Guy.
