Wilma Louise Habart, 82, of South Bend passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on February 27, 1938 in Peru, IN, to the late Charles and Doris (Griffith) Harris. On August 18, 1957 in South Bend, IN, she married Herbert Wesley “Wes” Habart, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2009.
Surviving are her two sons, Steven Habart of Kalamazoo, MI and Kent Habart of Niles, MI; six grandchildren, Courtney (Doug) Day, Mathew (Krystal) Habart, Alyssa (Kyle) Buchanan, Tyler (Lauren) Habart, Olivia Habart and Willow Habart; two great-grandchildren, Kai Buchanan and Kane Habart; and two sisters, Phyllis (Jon) Galpo of West Lafayette, IN and Mary Friedman of Portland, OR. In addition to her husband and parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Harris.
Wilma was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a devoted wife and mother and was always there for her sons, to support them in their extracurricular activities. Wilma volunteered at Memorial Hospital for many years. She loved going to the lake and spending time at the cottage. Wilma enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to the Elks Lodge with her husband and friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services for Wilma will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46635. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Wilma will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN.
