Winifred Joseph

Winifred (Richardson) Joseph, 74, was born on July 1, 1947 in Detroit, MI. She passed away on December 4, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

Winifred moved from Detroit to Benton Harbor, MI in the late 1960’s, where she resided and worked at Whirlpool for over 20 years. In 1991, she moved to Panama City, FL, where she worked as a nanny. Winifred loved her nanny children as if they were her own. Winnie loved bowling, cooking and cleaning. She moved to South Bend, IN with her daughter, following an illness.

She leaves her surviving loved ones: son Robert (Judy) Pinson, daughter Janet (fiancé Corey Whitehead) Pinson; brother Simon Smith of Detroit, MI and sister Edith Kay Jackson of FL; a host of stepchildren: Kim, Lisa, Arthur and Joseph; six granddaughters and one grandson; six great grandchildren; plenty of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, friends and even family that’s not family. Winnie loved everyone.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar David Lewis and Loubertha (Cooper) Ratchford; and two sisters.

Services for Ms. Winifred Joseph will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628.
