Winifred "Winnie" Minor Obituary

Winifred (Winnie) Sue Minor went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at her home surrounded by her loved ones on the evening of Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 65 years old.  Winnie was born on October 30, 1953 to Winford and June (Davis) Baize in Mishawaka, Indiana, and has been a lifelong resident of the area.

On January 1, 1995, in South Bend, she married William Minor.  Winifred worked as an Assessor Trustee for Warren Township, St. Joseph County.

Winnie was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer at the age of 42.  With her strong will, she survived and was in remission for over 20 years before being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2018.  Winnie had incredible strength and fight in her to live her last year around her family.

Winnie was passionate about her horses, helping others, and the love of her family.  She loved spending time riding all over the country with her husband and their horses meeting others who were battling cancer themselves.  Over the years, she took in many family members and friends, and helped them get back on their feet through tough times.  Her door was always open and will be remembered for her commitment to those in need.  She will be loved and missed by many people.

Winnie is preceded in death by her father, Winford Baize, brother, Steven Baize, sister, Judith Smith, and great grandchild, William Andrews.

In addition to her husband, Winifred is survived by her daughter, Angela Burkhardt of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her son, Michael Castellon of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Megan Castellon, Christian Castellon, Aiden Futa, and Tanner Burkhardt; three great grandchildren, Neilson Andrews, Jackson Castellon, and Oliver Castellon; her mother, June Baize; and her sister, Patricia Baize.
