Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Winnie Boveri, of Granger, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 13, 2023, in the company of her family.
Winnie was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on September 6, 1934, to William F. and Catherine (Wagoner) Whipple, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 1, 1958, Winnie married her high school sweetheart, Lieutenant Donald Boveri, in England, where Donald was initially stationed in the United States Air Force. He survives to treasure the memories of their seven-year courtship and sixty-five years of marriage. Winnie’s sister, Tina (Tom) Sprich, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, also survives. Don and Winnie had three children: Mark (Franci) Boveri of Granger, Indiana, Lynn (Eric) Rhody, and Daniel (Kevin) Boveri, both of South Bend, Indiana. Watching her four grandchildren grow up to be young adults brought her considerable joy; they are Matthew Boveri, Madi Boveri, Erin MacLeod, and Adam Rhody.
Winnie was an avid golfer for many years and always enjoyed couples golf at Knollwood Country Club and Four Lakes Country Club, where she made countless friends and enjoyed many good times. But her favorite avocation was time spent with family and friends. Winnie was quick-witted and not the least bit shy about lobbing a friendly zinger at anyone within earshot. Winnie will be greatly missed by all of those who loved her.
The family will have a private service for Winnie at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
