Bo Joseph Turner (Boguslaw Skretkowicz), 74, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 2:29 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at his home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness.
Bo was born on March 20, 1952, in Wroclaw, Poland, to Czeslaw and Stanislawa (Wolanin) Skretkowicz.
Bo married the love of his life, Wiesia B. Kapala, on April 11, 1979. Wiesia survives along with daughter, Sarah Skretkowicz, and son-in-law, Kory Bridges, four grandchildren; Nadia Skretkowicz, Gina Bowker, Niko Bridges, and Zara Bridges, and his two brothers; Henryk Skretkowicz and Grzegorz Skretkowicz. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Agnieszka Skretkowicz Bowker, and his parents.
Bo came to the United States in 1985 with his wife and daughter, Agnieszka. He attended Ivy Tech and obtained his Associate of Applied Science in HVAC degree. Bo then went on to become the owner and operator of Dene’s Heating and Cooling. Bo had a love for learning and decided to go back to school at Indiana University of South Bend, earning his Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management in 2004 and Master of Public Affairs in 2006 degrees. Bo liked to stay busy and also worked as a building inspector for the city of Mishawaka for some time.
Bo enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid churchgoer and was often a lecturer at the Polish Mass on Sunday mornings at St. Adalbert’s Parish alongside his daughters, who were altar girls. He loved spending time with family, whether it was going to the zoo, pumpkin patch, beach, out to eat, attending events for his children and grandchildren, or helping out his daughters whenever they needed him. Bo also had a love for gardening, history, reading, obtaining knowledge, antiques, nature, playing with his dogs, watching soccer, boxing, and the news, traveling back to Poland, and taking pictures of anything and everything.
