Carol Weaver Obituary

Carol M. Weaver, beloved matriarch and cherished community member, passed away after a sudden illness, surrounded by her children and daughter in law on April 19, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on September 4, 1943, in South Bend, Indiana, Carol's warmth and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her throughout her 80 years. Carol was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Cornelius "Chris" and Jessie (Moore) Faker, her loving husband, Teddy Weaver, her brother, Richard "Dick" Faker, and brother-in-law, Doyle Weaver. Her legacy continues through her adoring family, including her children, Michelle (Tom) Shoupe of Edwardsburg, MI, Kimberly Hengert of South Bend, IN, and Todd (Jennifer) Weaver of Cassopolis, MI. Carol's joy was multiplied by her six grandchildren, Emily Shoupe of Caledonia, MI, Hannah Shoupe of Indianapolis, IN, McKenna Shoupe of South Bend, IN, Grace Hengert of South Bend, Indiana, Sydney and Joshua Weaver of Cassopolis, MI, and her great-granddaughter, Allison Grace of Cassopolis, MI. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Faker of Advance, NC, Sherrill (John) Churchia of Niles, MI, Kathleen Weaver of South Bend, IN, and Nancy Weaver of Lakeland, FL, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly.

A proud graduate of St. Joseph High School, Carol furthered her passion for helping others by earning her RN from the former Holy Cross School of Nursing. She began her career as a floor charge nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend before pausing to raise her children. Carol later returned to the healthcare field, working part-time at the South Bend Clinic for Pediatrician Dr. Horvath, and then dedicated 25 years as an allergy nurse for pediatrician Dr. Robert Sweeney. Beyond her professional work, Carol served as the St. Pius X Parish Center Manager, where she coordinated wedding reception facilities with grace and meticulous attention to detail. Carol's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. A snowbird at heart, she cherished the warm winters at Twin Palms Senior Mobile Home Park in Lakeland, FL, where she was an active member of the Red Hat Society, Quilting Club, and enjoyed numerous excursions with friends. She had a knack for growing beautiful flowers, and no weed dared encroach upon her well-tended garden.

Carol was the family's go-to nurse, counselor, babysitter, seamstress, and stain remover, always ready with a solution or a comforting word. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she cherished individual moments with each of her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. She loved spending time with all of her grand dogs especially her dog Bentley. Carol would often sneak a bite of food off her plate for her beloved fur babies. Carol's playful spirit shone through in her interactions with her grandchildren, whether she was mastering TikTok dances or laughing behind silly filters. Her passion for Notre Dame football was infectious, and she became an enthusiastic fan of a handful of players and loved cheering on her "boys" with unbridled excitement.

Carol was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, Gigi, neighbor, and friend, whose generosity of spirit and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her well. Her family is profoundly grateful for the many friends she made at Twin Palms since she was widowed in 2010, who provided friendship and support during her golden years. Carol's life was one of unwavering love and dedicated service.  She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by her kindness, compassion, and love.
