Gerald "Jerry" Smith

It is with much sadness that we report the passing of Gerald “Jerry” Smith on Monday, April 13, 2026. Jer was born in Jackson, MI on December 28, 1964. He led a musically fed life, full of rock bands, guitars, keyboards and all the fantastic things he could get his hands on.

He attended Hanover-Horton school in Horton, MI. He lived and worked in Illinois in his later years, building a large following of friends and folks in the music industry. His hard driving singing career slowed down as he left Illinois and moved back to Michigan.

Jer is survived by his mother and stepdad, Linda and Don Szeszycki of Niles, MI. His brothers, Mike Smith, Steve (Ana) Smith, and Drew (Kim) Smith are mourning their loss. He also leaves a daughter, Sara (Stephen) Hutto and nine grandchildren in Olney Springs, CO.
