James D. Vicsik, 82 years old, went to Heaven at 3:22 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Jim was born on November 6, 1939 in South Bend to the late Michael and Esther (Roher) Vicsik. He graduated from New Carlisle High School. He attended Ball State University. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On September 8, 1962 in South Bend, James and Maureen P. Grochowalski were united in marriage. Among the variety of jobs, he was most proud to be the owner and operator of Vicsik and Son Construction. He has lived in North Liberty since 1978.
Jim’s pride and joy was his family, especially the smiles and knucks from his grandchildren. Along with Maureen, his loving wife of almost 60 years, survivors include their five children, Mary (Wayne) Six of Lakeville, Jody (John) Primmer of Walkerton, Michele (Greg) Weiss of North Liberty, Jim (Julie) Vicsik of Elkhart, and Mike (Amy) Vicsik of South Bend; ten grandchildren, Karly, Kelsey, Patricia, Elaina, Karena, Justina, Allyson, Jacob, Ava, and Jonas; five great grandchildren, Lukas, Layla, Henry, Holly and Kyra; three sisters, Rose Marciniak of South Bend, Edna (Jerry) Swartz of South Bend and Esther Roberts of Jones, MI; brother, Joe (Linda) Vicsik of South Bend; and two sisters-in-law, Caryll Vicsik and Marianne Grochowalski, both of South Bend. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Richie Vicsik, Ted Vicsik and his brother-in-law, Bob Grochowalski.
