John Phillip Sergio

John Phillip Sergio, 59, residing in South Bend, passed away on Friday morning, May 20, 2022, at Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka, IN, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on September 19, 1962, in South Bend, IN, to the late Joseph and Jeanne (Weiss) Sergio, and he remained a lifelong area resident.

John is survived by two sisters, Julianne (Steve) Siavelis of Crystal Lake, IL, and Jan (Mike) Weber of Fishers, IN; and three brothers, Jimmy (Kris) Sergio of Mitchell, IN, Jeffrey (Alma) Sergio of Naples, FL and Joey Sergio of Des Moines, IA; as well as 13 nieces and nephews.

John served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, prior to attending Holy Cross Community College. He worked in the sheriff’s department for four years and worked as a restaurant server. John was an avid Notre Dame sports and Indianapolis Colts fan. He enjoyed music, reading about history, and spending time on the beach. He loved animals of all kinds. John was also a fabulous cook.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday at the church prior to Mass. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
