Judy Parmley Obituary

South Bend- Judy L. Parmley, 70, a lifelong South Bend resident, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Judy was born in South Bend on January 19, 1954, to the late Elmer and Mary (Sheaks) Parmley.  After graduation, Judy began working for the South Bend Community School Corporation.  She had many roles during her career with the School Corp. and retired in 2021 from the Superintendent’s Office.  Judy was organized, gifted with numbers, fearless of deadlines, reliable, dependable, and flexible.  She worked for countless administrators and with departments, schools, and co-workers with confidence, patience, and loyalty.  She was a hard worker, first in line for new projects, and willing to work as long as it took to get the job done.

Judy loved her family.  She was generous with her time, a caring and supportive Aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews.   She was proud of each and every family member, celebrating their successes, and assisting when needed.  She bravely fought against medical issues to be active and present in family activities.  She was a talented baker and enjoyed cooking for others.  Family celebrations and holidays were cherished.  She relished her casino trips and enjoyed being at the casino.  She loved animals, especially her cats.  Judy will be fondly remembered, and she will be greatly missed.  She was caring and passionate.  Her kindness and cheerful laugh will be remembered by many.

Judy met Michael Magiera on February 14, 1969, and together they spent 50 years creating wonderful memories together before his passing in 2020.

Judy was also preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Kay Selcz and Deena Smith.  Judy is survived by her siblings, Connie Ferrence, Mary Root, and Ralph Parmley, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care Judy received.
