Larry Allen Reed, age 84, of Buchanan, Michigan, passed away on May 11, 2026. He was born on September 16, 1941, in Niles, Michigan.
Larry was the son of the late Allen Theodore Reed and the late Helen Grace Jesswein. He was united in marriage to Ann Louise (Coleman) Reed on July 20, 1973, and together they shared 53 beautiful years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence brought comfort and love to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Louise Reed; his daughters, Suzie (Richard) Galaske of Buchanan, Michigan, Lisa Taylor of Baldwin, Michigan, and Michelle (Robert) O'Malley of New Carlisle, Indiana; his grandchildren, Asa (Duke) Niedbalski, Adam Galaske, Michael (Rebecca) Taylor, Sara (Chad) Hiatt, Megan O'Malley, Lauren O'Malley, and Kristen O'Malley; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Naragon and brothers; Fred and Gary Reed. Larry also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Larry attended Niles High School and graduated in 1960. After school, he built a life centered on hard work and determination. He owned and operated his own trucking company, Reed Enterprise Trucking Co., and took great pride in the business he created.
Larry was an outdoorsman through and through. He found joy in hunting, fishing, boating, and traveling in RVs. In the winter months, he especially enjoyed snowmobiling, embracing every season with enthusiasm and energy. He also treasured time spent at his lake house in Baldwin, Michigan, where countless memories were made over the years. Many of those memories included his beloved dog, Benji, who was a constant companion to Larry.
Those who knew Larry will remember him as adventurous, spirited, and full of life. He had a way of making the most of every day and appreciated the simple pleasures that came from being outside, spending time with family, and creating memories that would last for generations. His life was marked by dedication to his loved ones, pride in his work, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation will be taking place. Palmer Funeral Home- Hoven Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions in Larry’s name may be made out to The American Heart Association.
