Mary Josephine Rummel

MISHAWAKA - Mary Josephine Rummel, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Story Point in Granger.  Mary was born June 29, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Joseph Albert and Lena Mary (Skinner) Konrad and has been a lifelong resident of this area.

Mary attended Riley High School but graduated from Anderson High School.  She then went on to further her education in Detroit, Michigan at the Court Reporting School.

On October 23, 1950 in South Bend, she married Weir A. Rummel; he preceded her in death on September 15, 2019.

Mary was a freelance court reporter from 1970 until retiring in 2001. She was also past president of the South Bend Art League and Altrusa. Both Mary and her husband enjoyed attending plays at Bethel College and South Bend Civic Center. They loved to travel and went on numerous long cruises world-wide learning of different cultures and attractions.

Surviving is her daughter, Linda Jo Meyer of Mishawaka; two granddaughters, Jennifer Michelle Manly and Sarah Christine Schiff.  Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Cohen Schiff, Sawyer Schiff, Dawson Schiff, Aiden Manly and Addison Manly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Marya Lynn Rummel.

Visitation will be from 5-7PM Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.  Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Bell officiating.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery – Mishawaka.
