Suzanne Witwer

Suzanne Witwer, 82 years old, passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Heritage Point in Mishawaka.  Suzanne was born on March 25, 1938 in South Bend and has remained a lifelong resident.  She was a graduate of John Adams High School.  Suzanne worked at Tepe’s for over 17 years and retired from Kroger Grocery on the Southside of South Bend after many years of employment.  Suzanne loved animals, especially her German Shepherds.  She had a loving heart and was always kind to others. 

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise N. (Nys) Witwer.  She will be remembered by her caring neighbors, Janice and Joseph Frucci and their children, Matthew, Michael, Olivia, and Sara Frucci, who were able to help her maintain her independence for as long as she did.  Also, a trusted neighbor, Ruth Heumann, who regularly called her to see how she was doing.  She also had a shopping buddy, Pat Culpert, who took her shopping for many years.  She often spoke of how she cared for her banker friend, Ronnie Schimmel, whom she could always call upon with any of her banking issues. 

Suzanne loved her independence and never wanted to depend on anyone.  She was thrifty and always able to find a good bargain.  She loved being able to care for her German Shepherd, Schatzi, and often said that having this loving gal would keep her alive longer than any medicine.  Suzanne loved her western movies, John Wayne movies, as well as, all of the Johnny Carson re-runs.  She was moved by human interest stories and wanted people to be treated with fairness and dignity. 

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.  She will be laid to rest beside her parents.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting.
