Thelma Davis

Mrs. Thelma Davis, 103, passed away peacefully at her residence in Surprise, AZ on the afternoon of Thursday, October 22, 2020. Thelma was born on January 6, 1917 in Brown County, IN.

Thelma was a life-long resident of Indiana, having relocated to Arizona in 2014. On August 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Mr. Johnny Davis. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1980. Thelma was a member of South Side Christian Church, where she served as a Deaconess. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Thelma is survived by two grandsons, Mark Davis of Goodyear, AZ and James Davis; six great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Estella (O’Haver) Schrougham; seven sisters: Mary Schrougham, Margaret Kelly, Catherine Dunlap, Edith Jefferies, Mae Schrougham, Melinda King and Dorothy Donaldson; two brothers, Benton Schrougham, Jr. and Lawrence Schrougham.

Per the family’s wishes, no public services are currently scheduled. The family may gather privately at a later date to celebrate Thelma’s life. Burial at Riverview Cemetery will also take place at a later date. Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
