William "Bill" Scantland

William “Bill” Scantland, age 85, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 3:25 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at his residence.  Bill worked in Sales and was Operations Manager for Overhead Door for 15 years; and worked at Martin’s Supermarket in management for 10+ years.

Bill was born on June 3, 1935 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Leora Lawrence and Edith (Pritchard) Scantland.  Bill lived in Detroit, Michigan for ten years and moved to Mishawaka, Indiana in 1975.  On April 17, 1982 in South Bend, Indiana, Bill was united in marriage to Phyllis J. Brink, who survives.

Along with his loving wife, Phyllis “PJ” Scantland, Bill is survived by his daughter, Mandy (Landon) Wiegand of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Alex (Krista) Scantland of Frankfort, Indiana, and Kylie Wiegand and Jaedon Wiegand both of Elkhart.  Bill was preceded in death by his son, David L. Scantland on April 24, 2018.  He was also preceded by five siblings, Margaret Craig, Mary Cummings, Ruth Plummer, Virginia Smith and Ed Scantland.  

Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan, South Bend; and one hour prior to 2 pm services on Friday in the funeral home.   Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
