Betty Webb, also known as “Peggy”, was born Betty Jean Hendrickson on October 20, 1927 to Fred and Esther Hendrickson, who retired from Plymouth, Indiana. Peggy was the baby sister to Herbert and Raymond. Born and raised in South Bend, Peggy attended Nuner Elementary and graduated from Adams High School In 1945. She had fond memories of working at Ford Hopkins Drug store, which was connected to the famous Oliver Hotel.

Peggy retired from Sturgis Molded Products in Sturgis, Michigan and spent the majority of her retired years back home in South Bend, enjoying the many supportive and loving friends at the Fairington Apartments, where she resided for over 24 years.

Peggy had four children: Sandra Rae “Sam” (deceased), survived by her husband George Hankinson, residing in Rapid River, MI; Sharole Kae married to James “Jim” Beckman, residing in Beaverton, Oregon; Charles Frederick “Charlie” Comden (deceased), survived by his wife Geraldine “Gerri” residing in Sturgis, MI; and Richard Charles Comden married to Jane, residing in Niles, MI. Peggy’s life has been blessed in abundance with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Peggy was an enthusiastic bowler and a master at the art of crochet.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 10 years, Worley Webb of Sturgis, MI and former husband of 17 years, Richard C. Comden, the father of her children. Peggy was a true lady, kind spirited, trusted, friend and an incredible example of honor and integrity.

Peggy passed away peacefully in her home. She said, “My mom (Esther Hendrickson) lived a long life and simply ran out of steam and died peacefully in her chair. That’s the way I want to go.” ....and she did!

“Mom, you planted the seeds of goodness in my life and created a lifelong example of loving acceptance. You will live on as a lasting impression that continues to direct the course of my life. I am proud to be known as your daughter. My love for you lives on.” - Sharole
