David “Bob” Anderson, 87 years old, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at his home. Mr. Anderson was born on January 3, 1928 in Washington, D.C. to the late Peter K. and Ruth (Neidig) Anderson. He was raised in LaPorte, IN and lived in South Bend for the past 59 years. On September 8, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaPorte, Mr. Anderson was united in marriage to Jacqueline D. Freese who survives.
Along with his loving wife of 59 years, Jacqueline, survivors include their seven children, David (Christine) Anderson of Saratoga, CA, James (Connie) Anderson of St. Louis, MO, Judith (Thomas) Rossow of South Bend, Susan Anderson of South Bend, Jacqueline Anderson of Mishawaka, Lora (Stephen) Loche of Rochester Hills, MI, and Robert (Elaine) Anderson of Bryn Mawr, PA; and ten grandchildren, Michael (Leobhe) Anderson, Brian Anderson, Stephen Anderson, Leah Anderson, Alexander Anderson, Jenna Anderson, Gabrielle Loche, Cierra Anderson, and twins, Ava and Marina Anderson. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Ashley and Audrey Anderson.
Mr. Anderson retired in 1989 after 31 years of employment as an Engineering Liaison Technician at Bendix Corporation. He was a 1945 graduate of LaPorte High School and attended Indiana University at South Bend for two years. Mr. Anderson proudly served his country from 1953-1955 with the United States Army. He has been a faithful member of the Cathedral of St. Matthew where he served as an usher and volunteered his time in various capacities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, October 19th, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend where the rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m.
