Gloria R. (Rhymer) Platz

Gloria R. Platz, 83 years old, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at her home with her son, David, at her side. Gloria was born on December 21, 1931 in South Bend to the late Doyle and Ruth (Morningstar) Rhymer. She has lived in North Liberty most of her life. On July 26, 1950 in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Hillis P. Platz who preceded her in death on April 4, 2011. Gloria was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda J. Dekker on November 5, 2003; son, Larry H. Platz on March 19, 2014; grandson, Aaron Dekker; and brother, Roy Rhymer.
  
Gloria is survived by her son, David A. Platz of North Liberty; daughter-in-law, Susan Platz of South Bend; son-in-law, Roy (Bev) Dekker of South Bend; five grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Ransbottom, Jackie Dollins, Lacey Platz, Kate (James) Waymouth, and Derek Dekker; and her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren whom she loved very much. Gloria is also survived by three brothers, Doyle Rhymer of South Bend, Robert Rhymer of Maryland, and Jim (Pat) Rhymer of Stevenson, AL; and her sister-in-law, Karen Rhymer of South Bend.
  

Gloria retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Memorial Health Systems. She has been a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in North Liberty.
  
Graveside services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation. Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty, is assisting the family with arrangements.
