Louise (Doris) Mainer

Louise Mainer, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-great-grandmother, left us to be with the Lord and all of her loved ones who have gone before her on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Louise was born on December 21, 1921 to the late Ed and Mella (Townsend) Doris. On July 3, 1965, Louise and Euless Mainer were united in marriage.

Louise was known as “Rocky” by my Notre Dame family because of her strong will to live. Every time she backed up against the ropes with a different illness, she would come back swinging. We are all saddened that Mom, who has always had a smile when you really needed it, good advice and a wonderful meal to share, is no longer with us. But we are joyful and happy for Mom, because she is with the Lord and loved ones. We often think about the joyous reunion they are all having. We will always love and cherish and keep a special place in our hearts.

Cherishing Louise’s memories are her one and only child, Brenda Carr; three grandchildren, Ben Carr Swanson III of Oklahoma City; Brian D. Swanson; and Nicole Brownlee; four great-grandchildren, Weston Swanson, Dylan Swanson, DeShawn Pfeifer, Jr., and Baily Crumbley, all of South Bend; two great-great-grandchildren, Irie and Miyah Swanson of South Bend; goddaughter, De De Lottie; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by one sister, Flora Alexander, and one brother, John D. Townsend.

Funeral services for Louise will be at 12:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 116 Birdsell Street, South Bend, IN 46628. Rev. H. Gregory Haygood will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00am-12:00pm on Friday, February 10 at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Palmer Funeral Homes—West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
