Alvin J. Snyder

Alvin J. Snyder, 79 years old, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at his home.  Mr. Snyder was born on September 21, 1936 in South Bend to the late John Delbert and Maude Pearl (Morrow) Snyder.  He has been a lifelong area resident.  On May 24, 1958 in Lakeville, he was united in marriage to Marjorie LeClercq who preceded him in death on April 6, 2005.  Also preceding Alvin in death were four brothers, John, Howard, Clarence and Marvin Snyder.

Mr. Snyder retired from Miller Paint Services after 31 years of employment.  After retiring, he was a truck driver for Leonard Kelly.  Mr. Snyder was a member  of the Hoosier A Club, Lakeville Conservation Club and a former member of the Civil Defense of St. Joseph County. 

Mr. Snyder is survived by his four children, Timothy Snyder of Fort Wayne, Brian (Debbie) Snyder of South Bend, Sherry (Neal) Phillips of South Bend and Michele (David) Shirk of Argos; four grandchildren, Talisa Lane, Kaitlyn (Joshua Pratt) Phillips, Amber Emerick, and Ashley Phillips; two sisters, Jane Fries of South Bend and Mary Jean Riffle of Matteson, IL; brother, Donald (Barbara) Snyder of South Bend; three sisters-in-law, Margaret LeClercq of Lakeville, Marilyn Birk of Columbia City, and Wilma LeClercq of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN.  Rev. Steve Cox, pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in LaPaz, will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.   Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville.
