Amanda Juanita Dixon

Amanda “Juanita” Dixon, 86, formerly of Mishawaka, IN passed away at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Valley View Nursing Home, Elkhart, IN.  She retired from the former Burcliff Industries.  Amanda was born on May 8, 1930 in Ida, AR to the late Zeb A. and Oma Ellen (Foust) Lacy.  On August 26, 1950 in Wilburn, AR, Juanita married Clyde Dixon, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2012.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Vickie E. (Ron) Gortney of Elkhart; son, Charles E. (Suzan) Dixon of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Ryan (Angie) Gortney, Jason (Justine) Gortney, Jon (Stacy) Gortney, Sarah (Andy) Minegar, and Joseph (Jessica) Dixon; 12 great grandchildren, Ryan, Lane, Ty, Lucas, Shelby, Payton, Dawson, Tinley, Graham, Ginger, Connor and Oliver.  Also surviving are her sister, Lovita Conklin of AR, her brothers, Guy (Charlotte) Lacy and Haroldean (Maxine) Lacy; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Davis, all of AR.  Juanita was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Davis and Geneva Shearer; her brother, Moran Lacy; brother-in-law, Leo Shearer and sister-in-law, Wandalee Lacy. 

Juanita was a member of First General Baptist Church of Osceola.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.  Pastor Jeff Little, of South Side General Baptist Church, will officiate.  Graveside services will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
