Carolyn Lois Roush

Carolyn Lois Roush, 76, a resident of South Bend, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's.  She was born on August 6, 1939 in South Bend to the late Ralph and LaVada (Rudduck) Roush, Sr.   One sister, Virginia Mae Roush, and one brother, Ralph Roush, Jr. preceded her in death. 

Carolyn attended Huntington College and Ball State University.  She was a music teacher in the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation and the South Bend Community School Corporation.  Carolyn retired after 34 years of employment.  She was a teacher of piano lessons and played the pipe organ for several churches.  Carolyn was a member of the Pi Mu Zeta of Indiana and the American Guild for Organists.

Carolyn was a member of First United Methodist Church in South Bend.  The church was an important part of her life.  She served on the Welcome Committee, was a greeter, member of the Pastor Parish Committee, participated on the prayer chain and served in the soup kitchen.  Carolyn also attended chapel services at St. Paul's when she was able. 

Carolyn loved dogs.  She would receive, on a regular basis, visits from Isaac, Izzy, Domino, and Riley.  This would always fulfill her day, no matter how she felt.  Also visiting her on a regular basis was Pastor Warren Kirkwood, pastor of First United Methodist Church in South Bend.  Carolyn always looked forward to the time he spent with her. 

Winslow and Linda Phillips would like to thank Burton and Anderson Family Home Care Corporation, Heartland Hospice, and St. Paul's nursing staff for their outstanding care and compassion while Carolyn was in assisted living. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Chapel at St. Paul's, 3602 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend.  Pastor Warren Kirkwood will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
