Daniel Lee Toles

 Daniel Lee Toles, 76, of Plymouth, IN passed away at 4:37 AM Thursday, February 26, 2015 at his home.  Danny was born on May 20, 1938 in Anderson, IN to the late John D. Toles and Evelyn F. (Blagg) Toles.  He graduated from Anderson High School in 1956 and married Ruthann Petry in October, 1958.  They moved their family to South Bend in 1971.  He later married Judy Mould in 1992 and moved to Dallas, GA.  They returned to Plymouth, IN in 2001, and he retired from Sprint Corporation after 16 years of service in 2006.  He also worked for Indiana Bell in Anderson and South Bend for over 25 years.

Danny loved baseball, coaching youth baseball at all age levels for many years.  He was President of the Knute Rockne Babe Ruth Baseball League from 1975 to 1976, and helped coach the 1977 South Bend Post 50 American Legion National Championship team.  He was a big fan of all forms of auto racing, particularly NASCAR.  Danny was also an accomplished carpenter in his retirement years, spending much of his time in his workshop and working in his yard.  He loved the Lord and was very active in the Plymouth Wesleyan Church in Plymouth . 

Mostly, though, Dan loved spending time with his family and friends.  He never met a child he didn't like and delighted in entertaining his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

Danny  is survived by his wife, Judy; a daughter, Ann (Ed) Johns of South Bend, IN; two sons Marc Allyn (Gretchen) Toles of Chesterton, IN and Christopher Martyn (Kim) Toles of Elkhart, IN; a step-daughter, Teri (Tim) Moore of Monterey, IN; and two step-sons, Phillip (Kelly) Williams of Russiaville, IN and Larry Williams of LaPorte, IN.  Danny is survived by 14 grandchildren, Jonah Jones, Maggie Johns, Jessica (Jamie) Baldwin, Lyndsey (Nick) Fernandez, Sara (Jonas) Hoyt, Oliver (Courtney) Toles, Summer Moore, Zachary Moore, Nicholas Moore, Brook Harshman, Blake Williams, Alyson Williams, Kristina Williams and Nicole Williams.  Danny is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, a nephew, Doug (Ellen) Kimball and a sister, Carol (Ronald) Christopher of Daytona Beach, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Catherine Toles and Ninele Toles. 

A celebration of Danny's life will take place on Tuesday, March 3 at 1:00 PM at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, officiated by Senior Pastor Ollie Dongell and Associate Pastor Ed Friberg.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.  Expression of sympathy may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or the Plymouth Wesleyan Church,  11203 Michigan Road, Plymouth, IN 46563.  Online condolences may be sent to the Toles family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
