Dessa Nora Frisbie

Dessa Nora Frisbie, 88 years old, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away at 3:44 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Frisbie was born on June 29, 1927 in South Bend to the late Charles and Effie (French) Apelgreen. She was united in marriage on June 30, 1946 in South Bend at the First United Methodist Church to Walter R. Frisbie who preceded her in death on May 7, 2015.  

Mrs. Frisbie is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnson of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Julie (Todd) Wilson of Indianapolis, IN, Jeff (Marija) Johnson of Niles, MI, Robert (Stephanie) Johnson of Niles, MI, and Corey Marcus (Jen) Johnson of Austin, TX; four great grandchildren, Erica, Nathan, Ameilia, and Megan; two sisters, Essie Shipley of Oregon and Kaye Scheiman of South Bend; and one brother, Charles (Wava) Apelgreen of Lakeville. Mrs. Frisbie was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Kaye Johnson and Joan Lorraine Frisbie; three sisters, Roberta Davis, Peg Vossberg, and Ona Sigrist; and one brother, William Eckart.

Mrs. Frisbie retired in 1995 after 25 years of employment with South Bend Supply Company. She was a graduate of John Adams High School. Mrs. Frisbie was a member of the Golden Girls where she met once a month with school friends. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church where she enjoyed playing the organ.  

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Pastor Greg Crump will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
