GRANGER – Edward “Ed” Joseph Bassett, 87, residing in Granger, IN passed away at 9:07 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. 

Ed was born on October 7, 1927 in Berkley, Michigan to the late Joseph and Bonabelle Bassett.  On August 22, 1986, in South Bend, IN he married Sally (Beebe) McKinney Bassett in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, South Bend, IN.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Sally Bassett; children, Mike Bassett of Dallas, TX, Karen Garnett of Providence, Rhode Island, Nancy Mann of Topeka, KS, Cyndi (Michael Michaud) McKinney of Spring Lake, MI, and David (Jo) McKinney of Columbus, IN; eleven grandchildren, Cherese Bassett, Jared Bassett, Michelle Garnett, Margaret Garnett, Cameron Mann, Chelsea Mann, Carin Tompkins, Vincent McKinney, Cameron McKinney, Alex McKinney and Kevin McKinney; and one great grandson, Charlie McKinney.  Ed’s sister, Edith Kain, preceded him in death.

Ed owned and operated Ed’s Sign World for many years in South Bend.  He was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian and enjoyed singing in the church choir.  Ed proudly served in the United States Army.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 115 S. Frances Street, South Bend, IN 46617.   Rev. James Miller, pastor of the church, will officiate.  Friends may visit with the family from 2:30 PM Saturday until time of services at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ed Bassett may be offered to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. Palmer Funeral Home –River Park is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be left for the Bassett family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
