Garry R. DeYoung

Garry R. DeYoung, 64, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his residence in New Carlisle, IN. He was born on August 25, 1952 in Chicago, IL, to the late Raymond and Lillian (Briley) DeYoung.

On June 14, 1997, Garry married Julie Ann (Siwek) DeYoung, who survives, in South Bend, IN. In addition to his wife, Garry is also survived by daughters, Holly (John) Harenza of New Carlisle, and Michelle DeYoung of LaPorte, IN; grandchildren, Hayden Harenza and Brock Harenza; and step-brother, Mark Stevens of LaPorte.

Garry worked as a crane operator at Midwest Operating Engineers (Local #150) in District #7, for 32 years before retiring in 2007. He also worked for Central Rent-A-Crane in Hammond, IN. He was a member of the retirees club at Midwest Operating (Local Dist. #7) in Merrillville. He was also an active member of Buchanan Westerners Riding Club, Indiana Pinto Horse Association. He enjoyed the friends at The Diner in New Carlisle. He worked and operated cranes, and enjoyed farm life with his bulldogs and Dobermans. He loved spending time with his grandsons at their sporting events and practices.

Funeral service for Garry will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home—West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN. Graveside services will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends  may visit with the family from 11:00am-12:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
