SOUTH BEND -   Georgia P. Bergland, 96 years old, a lifelong resident of North Liberty, IN passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s, South Bend. Mrs. Bergland was born on April 15, 1919 in North Liberty to the late Cletus and Rita (Moon) Heim. On December 28, 1940 in North Liberty, Georgia was united in marriage to Raymond L. Bergland who preceded her in death on April 6, 2004. One grandson, Tyler Richard Bergland; four sisters; and one infant brother, all preceded her in death.
  

Mrs. Bergland is survived by her three children; Sharon (Brian) Liggett of South Bend, Merita Irwin of Fort Wayne, and Kent (Tina) Bergland of Mishawaka; ten grandchildren, Lisa (Jim) Langfeldt, Dana (Dan) Bockerich, Regan (Josh Fluery) Liggett, Jamie (Tina) Plunkett, Sean (Christy) Plunkett, Pat (Lisel) Plunkett, Tara Irwin, Jennifer Bergland, Angela (Joel) Alvey, and Kevin Bergland; nineteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Jean Heim of South Bend. 
  

Mrs. Bergland was a retired cook for North Liberty High School where she worked for many years. She was a member of the North Liberty Church of Christ. 
  

  The family would like to thank the staff and administration of Sanctuary at St. Paul's for their many years of loving care. 
 

  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main Street, North Liberty. Andy Kaser will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Porter Rae Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 and one hour prior to services at the Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty. 

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to Logan Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615 in memory of Geogia’s grandson, Tyler Bergland. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
