Mishawaka -   Janet Gloster age 71 of Mishawaka, IN went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. With her earthly journey come to an end she is now celebrating in heaven after a brave and valiant fight against many years of serious health issues.
Jan, as she was known by many, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was predeceased by her father Carroll Furman, her mother Kathryn Furman Formato, and her sister Elsie Schafer. Jan is survived by her two loving sons, Dennis Gloster (Julietta) of Laredo, TX and Lee Gloster (Heather) of South Bend, IN. Jan was very proud of her sons, grandchildren and siblings and loved them all very much. She loved her family so much and we all loved her in return.
Jan would like to thank her many home health aides / nursing staff especially: Bobbi Dion, Penina Imanene, Maria Bueno, Rita Burnette, Amanda Bueno, and her loyal friend Sharon Laird who played cards and shared lunch with Jan for many years.
Jan was loved by many and touched so many people with her humor and infectious laughter. She loved telling funny stories and making us laugh. She was kind and generous, full of life, and had an awesome sense of humor. She was stronger and braver than even she realized, serving as an inspiration to many around her as she persevered through her life’s trials.
Her presence will be greatly missed but even so, we are greatly comforted in knowing that she now is in heaven with that new body she has been waiting for and free of pain and suffering in the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jan was born in Johnson City, New York and grew up in Endicott, NY, graduating from Seton Catholic High School in Endicott, NY in 1961. She lived a brief time in Tampa, FL where she met and married James “Mike” Gloster in 1963. Although divorced they remained lifelong friends. Jan lived the remainder of her life in the South Bend, IN area, with her last residence at Whispering Pines in Mishawaka.
Jan enjoyed several occupations throughout her lifetime working for Endicott-Johnson, JCPenney, Osteopathic Hospital, St. Joseph’s Medical Center as an Environmental Services Supervisor for 13 years, and Montgomery Ward Signature Group as QA Supervisor.
Jan loved playing Canasta and had a beloved collection of over 200 teddy bears.
Nearing her last days Jan was clear to express her faith in God and her belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her favorite bible passage was the 23rd Psalm and her favorite poem – Footprints in the Sand, for she knew full well that the Lord carried her through the tough times.
