Jon Eric Stanley

Jon Eric Stanley, 61, of South Bend, IN passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. Jon was born in Lima, OH on August 5, 1955 to the late Edward and DaMaris (Troyer) Stanley. In June of 1992 Jon met his wife Brenda (Smith) Stanley, who shared 25 joyful years together. On June 19, 2010 they were united In marriage.
  In addition to his wife, Jon is survived by his daughters Deanna Stanley of Mishawaka, IN, Kristy (Jonathon) Stewart, Suzanne Shelton and Jennifer Hawkins, all of South Bend; his sons Sean Stanley of Mishawaka, IN and William (Leydiana) Hawkins, of South Bend; thirteen grandchildren, Lucas Stanley of Mishawaka, Jonathan (Liliana) Hawkins, TreyVaun Shelton, Breanna Hawkins, TaTyanna Hawkins, DeVaughn Carothers, Marissa Shelton, Alyiah Hawkins, Robert Shelton, Arreyonna Long, Amira Hawkins, Abigail Salas, Gabrielle Salas, all of South Bend; his great-grandson, JaMarion Hawkins; his sisters, Rebecca (Lynn) Kesselring of Bethlehem, PA and Cindy Miller of Elkhart, IN; and brothers, Robert (Linda) Stanley of Colorado Springs, CO and Brian Stanley of Lawrence City, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Larry Miller.
  Jon was a man who served and loved, his country and family above all. He served as a jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force and also served two years at the Grissom Air Force Reserve. He received an honorable discharge for his services. Jon retired from DC Tire and Auto as an auto mechanic. Jon loved to ride his Harley and go to amusement parks for vacations. He enjoyed working on other people's cars just as much as he enjoyed being in the pool with all his grandkids. One of his favorite hobbies was building and fixing things. He was a loving man but the most important thing he loved was being with his wife Brenda Stanley.
  Services for Jon will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend.
