Judy Lee Himes

Judy Lee Himes, 81, of Mishawaka, IN passed away at 11:03 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Hospice House, South Bend, IN.  She was born on January 8, 1935 in Marion, IN to the late Jack Rounds and Wilma (McPherson) Rounds.  On September 8, 1962 in Lakeville, IN she was united in marriage to Levi Himes who preceded her in death on December 6, 1985. 

Mrs. Himes is survived by her daughter, Debra (Richard) Annis of Mishawaka, IN; three grandchildren, April (Robert) de Haan of Bartlett, IL, Stephanie (Matt) Ward of Bay City, MI and Matthew (Stephanie) Smith of Granger, IN; six great grandchildren, Oliver and Gertrude de Haan, Sean and Lilly Ward and Zoey and Westin Smith and cousin, Larry (Faye) Draper of NC.

Mrs. Himes moved to South Bend in 1942 and was a graduate of Riley High School.  She worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital, and formerly was employed as a cashier at Ernie's Supermarket.  She enjoyed bowling at Parkway Lanes, fishing and watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys.  Mrs. Himes was a Frank Sinatra fan and enjoyed drinking her Coca Cola and watching Dr. Quinn on T.V.  She was a member of the former Milburn Boulevard Church of Christ. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
