Larry O. Steele

Larry O. Steele, 83, of South Bend, IN passed away at 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN.  He was born on December 12, 1931 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Owen C. and Patricia M. (Huber) Steele.  On July 19, 1996, in South Bend, IN, he was united in marriage to the former Beverly J. Bartell.

Larry is survived by his wife, Beverly Steele; daughter, Crystal L. Steele of Phoenix, AZ; son, Mark Steele of Goshen, IN; two grandchildren, Patrick (Amani) Steele and Ryan Steele; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Mackenzie and sister, Lynne Steele of Edwardsburg, MI. He is also survived by his first wife and the mother of his children, Phyllis Steele of Mishawaka, IN.

Larry was a lifelong resident.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict.  He worked for South Bend Lathe for twenty years, flew hot air balloons for fifteen years and was a transporter for motor homes throughout the United States..  Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #303 and the River Park Business Association.

A Memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from noon - 2:00 p.m. Monday prior to the services.
