Marcia (Paskell) Gammage

Marcia Gammage, 78, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 5:15 am Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend. She was born October 22, 1937 in South Bend to the late Leonard and Thelma (Hawkins) Paskell, and remained a lifelong area resident.
 
On November 21, 1959 in South Bend, Marcia married Robert G. Gammage, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 5, 2013. She was also preceded by her sister, Rochelle Fuller; and brother, Leonard Paskell, Jr.
 
Marcia is survived by her son, Andre B. (Andrea) Gammage of South Bend; daughters, Traci J. Gammage of South Bend and Cheryl K. (Paxton) Reed of Huntersville, NC; six grandchildren, Austin, Valencia, Tre, DeLorean, Payton and Paysia; and a special sister-in-love, Doris Prince of South Bend; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
 
Marcia retired as an administrative secretary at Jefferson Elementary School. She previously worked at Robertson’s Department Store. Marcia was a lifetime member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as matron, senior choir member, Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school leader and church pianist. She also enjoyed the bible study fellowship. Marcia’s hobbies included going to the library, taking care of others’ children as well as gardening and yard work at her home.
 
Funeral services for Marcia will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1862 N. Olive Street, South Bend. Rev. Ray E. Owens will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, August 1, 2016 in the church and 10:00 - 11:00 am Tuesday, also in the church, prior to services. Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
 
Memorial contributions may be donated to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
