Richard E. Nicely, Sr.

Richard E. Nicely, Sr., 79, of South Bend, Indiana passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his home.  Richard retired from Peterson Printing.  He was born on January 13, 1936 in South Bend, IN to the late Walter R. and Gizella (Kinslow) Nicely and remained a lifelong resident.  On February 14, 1968 in South Bend, IN he married Joyce (Dean) Nicely. 

Along with his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce Nicely, Richard is survived by six children, Miriam Brown, Barbara White, Michael Dombrowski, Joseph (Cherie) Nicely, Jimmy Nicely and Richard (Dawn) Nicely; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Walter Nicely, Jr., Danny Nicely and David Nicely.  Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard E. Nicely, Jr.; a brother, Virgil J. Nicely; his sister, Dorothy (Jack) Murray and a son-in-law, Tom Brown.

Richard was an active member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church for over 25 years and took great pride in caring for the church lawn.  He had a passion for golf. 

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at Christ Temple.  Funeral services for Richard will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 2307 Elwood Ave., South Bend, IN  46628.  Pastor Michael McKinnies, pastor of the church will officiate.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
