Robert Paul Thacker, Sr. 89, of Denver, CO, formerly of Lakeville, IN passed away at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 in the Colorado State Veterans Home, Aurora, CO. He was born on March 10, 1921 in Bourbon, IN to William and Nellie (Sechrist) Thacker. On June 26, 1948 in South Bend, IN he married Anna L. (Williams) Thacker, who survives.
Mr. Thacker is also survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann (Nicholas) Lynn of Englewood, CO; son, Robert (Ramona) Thacker, Jr. of Trinity, AL; seven grandchildren, Thomas W. Thacker, Kerry A. Munoz, Nathan Thacker, Derek Thacker, Kelsey Thacker, Robert Acker and Benjamin Acker; six great grandchildren; sister, Georgia Belle Krouder of Mishawaka, IN and brother, Ward Thacker of GA. A son, Thomas Wayne Thacker, two sisters, Ruby Husky and Jean Jones and three brothers, Burl Thacker, Glen Thacker and Claude Yarian preceded him in death.
Mr. Thacker moved to Colorado in 2007, living most of his life in Indiana. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Thacker retired in 1983 from the Bendix Corporation after twenty-seven years of service.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville, IN. Rev. Brian White, pastor of Lakeville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
