Terry Brian Harris

Terry Brian Harris, 52, residing in South Bend, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Memorial Hospital.  He was born September 9, 1963 in South Bend and was adopted into the loving care of Howard “Frank” Harris Jr. and Bonnie L. (Garrett) Harris,  and has remained a lifelong area resident.

 Terry was an innocent and trusting man who just wanted to know you were his friend.  Terry loved numbers; especially the number 8.  He loved his calculator, flash cards, puzzles, binoculars, magnifying glass, Diet Pepsi, Notre Dame and most of all his Mom.  Terry attended Logan Center and volunteered in various community programs that helped those in need.  Terry and his special needs never kept him from helping others.  He taught everyone he met so much about compassion and acceptance.  Terry "walked the good walk", as he would say, and was loved by many.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Harris. He is survived by his mother, Bonnie L. Harris of South Bend; sister, Tamara (Joseph) Vasta of South Bend; nieces, Anna Vasta and Lindsey Shane nephew, Nick Ansbaugh; and great niece, Ania Shane.

Funeral services for Terry will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, August 1, 2016 in Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, where Terry was a member. Rev. Dr. Patrick Somers will officiate. Terry referred to Evangel Heights as "Carol's Church" (Carol led the Special Needs ministry  at Evangel Heights).  Private inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger at a later date. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to services on Monday in the church. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
