MISHAWAKA – William “Bill” Leroy Krill, 95, passed away at 7:50 pm Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Golden Living – Fountainview, Mishawaka, IN. He served as Captain for the Notre Dame Security Police Force. Bill was a Civil Air Patrol Officer in the 1950’s. He previously served as Police Chief of Constantine, MI and was a sheriff for the St. Joseph County Police Department. Bill was born on March 11, 1920 in South Bend, IN to the late Noah and Hattie (Boyer) Hardy. On May 31, 1941 he married Dorothy Virginia (Waters) Krill. Bill and Dorothy celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows, complete with a full bridal party at Little Flower Catholic Church in the presence of family and friends. Dorothy preceded Bill in death on May 31, 1985.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Bonnie (John) Varso of Whitehall, MI and Dixie (Tom) Juchcinski of Highland, IN and his son, William Edward Krill of South Bend. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Christina Mahan, Aaron (Michelle) Varso, Jason Varso, Jody (Bryan) Varso-Suits, Elizabeth (Chris) Mahoney, E. J. Wasik, Jonathan William Wasik (Danielle Stanage) and Lindsay V. (Aaron) Helman; sixteen great-grandchildren, Ashley Maihem, Benjamin Maihem, Mikayla Varso-Suites, Mikenna Varso-Suits, Mikeira Varso-Suits, Kya Mahoney, Keagan Mahoney, Emelia Mahoney, Branden Varso, Ryanne Varso, Dawson Pontitus, Colton Helman, Addison V. Helman, Rushton Waters Wasik, Jules Stanage and Kenna Stanage. Three grandchildren, Michael Krill, Christine Deanna Krill and William Michael Krill preceded Bill in death.
Bill served in the United States Army during World War II. Private military graveside services will be held at Riverview Cemetery, 2300 Portage Ave, South Bend, IN 46616. Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 700 E. Beardsley Ave., Suite 2B, Elkhart, IN 46514. Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
