William Santana

Master Sergeant William Santana, 79, of South Bend, IN passed away at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hospice House surrounded with loving family, hospice angels and friends.  He was born on October 4, 1937 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.  He was married to Barbara Louella (White) Santana who preceded him in death.  

William is survived by his daughters, Kitty Anne Santana of FL, Michelle D. (Gustovo M. Lopez) Santana of South Bend, IN, Haydee (Denny Cormican) Santana of Lakeville, IN and Bonnie M. Santana of South Bend, IN; son, Kerry L. (Christian) Santana of FL; twenty-one grandchildren, Andrew William, Angela, Kristin, Gabriel, DJ, Justin, Bailey, Zelda, Oscar, Anita, Jorge, Jose, Marco, Austin, Aaron, Maudaelenna, Rosalinda, Hannah, Taylor, Alivia and Kaileya Heaven-Leigh; four great grandchildren, Ethan, Vega, Dante William and Zavior; two sisters, Elba (Ruben) Ivarra and Iris Guedea, both of TX brothers, Victor (Beth) Vazquez of South Bend, IN, Gualberto (Helen) Santana of South Bend, IN, and Wilbur Santana.  He was preceded in death by his brother Wilfredo Santana.  He was met at the Gate by his father, Cleto Santana, his mother, Rosa Maria Santana; his brother, George Aldarondo; his wife, Barbara Louella (Smith) Santana Loy; his daughter, Wanda Santana; and his granddaughter, Haley Alyssa Alexsadra Dowlut.  His mother, Rosa Santana brought him home.

William worked for the City of South Bend as a mechanic.  He served his country honorably as a master sergeant in the United States Army. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN.  Rev. Eddie Ruiz will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.   Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 -3:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
