William "Bill" J. Schmotzer

William “Bill” J. Schmotzer, age 97, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Hospice House, Roseland, Indiana. He worked for Country Bell for 25 years, then Keggeris Supply for 13 years, retiring in 1985. Bill was born on November 24, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Valentine and Mary (Green) Schmotzer. On August 3, 1947 in Chicago, IL he married Lucille Marie (Koehler) Schmotzer. Lucille preceded him in death on April 10, 2015.        

Bill is survived by his nieces, Patty Troeger of South Bend, Linda Koprivnikar, and Lois Ann Callwood, of Pittsburgh, PA; nephews, Michael (Sandy) Koehler of Elkhart IN, Randy Schmotzer (Sylvia), Gary Schmotzer, Jerald Callwood, and James (Carol) Callwood of Pittsburgh, PA; and several great nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Callwood; three brothers, Raymond, Frank and Paul Schmotzer; and his nieces, Patricia Garner and Carol Hinebaugh.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a dedicated member of American Legion, DAV of South Bend and Eagles of Mishawaka. Bill most loved his family (especially his beloved wife), and his many friends. He was a real friend; kind, compassionate, and faithful; and he loved wholly.

Memorial services with military honors will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Golden Living-Fountainview, 609 W. Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka in their main dining room. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
