Doug was the dad that was absent in my life. My heart is saddened. He was one of the finest man i have ever known. I thank God that he placed him in my life. I want to thank his children for sharing him with me. Love and prayers for the family.

I was saddened to read about Doug's passing. He was a basketball teammate of mine in 1960-61 and was the best rebounder (and jumper) on the team. He was also one of the most fun loving guys who kept us laughing with his witty sense of humor. Doug was one of my very first classmates as we both started school in Jan of 1949 at Harrison Primary School. Some of our fellow classmates were Joe Sanders, Early Bates, Ralph Wadzinski and Dennis Overmeyer. Doug's athletic skills were tremendous in every sport he tried. He must have won at least 6 letters in football, basketball and track I don't think he played baseball but I bet he would have been good at it also. I was proud to have known Doug. After high school I only saw him occasionally as I also drove a truck from 1969 thru 1986 and we'd sometimes cross paths. I just know he's still making people smile.
