Kenneth O. Merrill

Kenneth O. Merrill, Jr., 72, of Bremen, IN passed away at 3:13 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.  He was born on October 25, 1945 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Kenneth O. and Velma (Sauer) Merrill, Sr.  On March 5, 2005 in Fish Lake, IN, he was united in marriage to Dawn M. Erdelyi-Merrill.

Ken is survived by his wife, Dawn M. Merrill; daughter, Michelle Lynn Merrill of Lafayette, IN; son, Eric O. Merrill of Vinita, OK and two sisters, Donna Roush of Lakeville, IN and Dixie Howell of Bremen, IN.

Ken was a lifelong area resident.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army.  Kenneth worked as a carpenter for Local #413 in South Bend for thirty-five years.  He loved cutting wood, landscaping and Allis Chalmers tractors.  He enjoyed birds and making bird houses.  Ken and Dawn once owned a white tail deer as a pet.  He knew many people and would help anybody that needed him.  He was a hard worker and loved his pets.  Ken and Jim McBride built the house that he lived in.  Ken will be missed more than words could ever express!!

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Christian Center  Church, 530 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, IN.  Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville is assisting the family with arrangements.
