Mary was an amazing force in her world, always finding the best and carrying on like a trooper. We should all hope to fill our lives as completely as she appeared to do. I had forgotten that she was involved at Brown School, where I attended. A detail that I'm sure would not have evaded her.
My heart will be with you all this Saturday.

Leon and I regret not getting to know Mary. She seems like she should be an old friend, due to the wonderful stories we have heard from Becky about her Grandma. Truly a light has left this world and now burns bright in heaven. We wish our sympathies to all the family at this time of loss.

Dear Mary, Fran, Kate, Ann and Jim. I am saddened to hear about your mom. She was a wonderful person and always had a real zest for life. One of my Mom's best friends. I will miss her and have many fond memories of her when I was growing up in our neighborhood. I will be out of town and apologize that I cannot see all of you to give my condolences personally.

Dear Ann, Fran, Mary, Jim, Kate, and Michelle,
A wonderful memory of hearing about Mary and each of you began early in my life as our mothers were friends before we were born. I will certainly miss our many phone conversations with Mary that we had together the past few years. Please accept my sympathy and prayers for comfort from the Lord Jesus.

Dear Deitle Family...
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Mary. She and Frank were an important part of my growing up years back in the late 1940's. Frank worked with my dad, Paul, at The Winkelmann Company, in South Bend, and they remained friends until my father's passing in 1964. My dad was a tool and die designer. I believe even though I was quite young at the time (born in 1943), I can recall many Notre Dame football parties, with TV trays and all, that Frank and Mary were there. Mary called me several years ago, not sure how she found me (I'm 46 years married, living in Akron, OH), and we had a wonderful conversation. I am saddened by her passing, and more saddened that I never had the opportunity to get back to South Bend to visit with her in person. As I recall she was a wonderful, and very caring, person. God bless you all as you deal with her passing. May you spend many, many days recalling memories with her, as you both laugh, and cry, and mostly celebrate her life. George

Mary and my Mother Dorothy taught school together in the 1930's in St. Joseph, MI and later at Brown School in South Bend. They were friends for so many years. Mary kept in touch with my sisters and I over the years with her welcomed phone calls. She was always interested in how we were and what we were doing. With heart felt sympathy to the Deitle family in remembering a special lady.

Dear twins from my grade school years -- kind thoughts sent your way as you accept the passing of your Mother's spirit to another place. She raised gracious and caring children that reflected on her gracious and caring spirit. May you continue to feel that spirit around you as I do with my recently departed Mother. How blessed we have been to have them so long. What strong woman role models we had!

When I think about my favorite people, my Great Aunt Mary Deitle tops the list... 102 years old, with the mind that was second to none! What a life she's lead, and what a legacy she graces our world with. She graduated St. Mary's College, at Notre Dame, in 1934, won her battle against stomach cancer in the early 1970s, and was a true entrepreneur. Now, her brain (and entire body) has been donated to the Indiana University School of Medicine to study how it's remained so spectacular for more than a century... what a remarkable celebration of life! I'm looking forward to the funeral road trip with my Dad this weekend, in true Great Aunt Mary fashion (she'd have loved to have come along for the ride!). Thank you Great Aunt Mary for so many amazing memories! You live on through all of us.

Have happy memories about Aunt Mary, especially my experience of being her flower girl at her wedding. So enjoyed her 100th birthday party and so blessed that I was in the area and got to visit and pray with her before her transition. Prayers are being sent to all family members as we memorialize Mary's long life. Blessings to all. Sister Mary Patricia

Dear Ann and family, May I offer my sympathy in the death of your mother. How lucky you all are that you were able to share so many years with her. I'm sure you will miss her, but hope you will take comfort in the fact that you surrounded her with your love for all the years she was with you.
