Sandy loved her Labradors Arthur and Gwennie so much, that in her memory I donated a bag of dog food to a program that gives pet food to people who cannot afford to feed their pets, but cannot do so without assistance.
I always think of Sandy as one of the most creative, imaginative and enthusiastic people I have known. She involved her gifted classes one year in a unit about ancient Egypt. During the initial overview, they created a "mummy" by wrapping a chicken carcass in solution-soaked gauze and buried it to be exhumed later. That latter was done at the conclusion of their studies wearing appropriate costumes and offering gifts accompanied by rituals similar to the ones they had studied about. This is just an example of how her spirit of sharing knowledge and encouraging creativity engaged those around her. How nice that she could be with her children and grandchildren during her last days. She did so love you all.
