Wayne Brewer Osborn, 89, residing in Granger, passed away at 9:45 am Friday, November 27, 2015 in his home. He was the first born son of the late Thomas and Orabelle (Brewer) Osborn, born October 28, 1926 in South Bend and remaining a lifelong area resident.
Wayne served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was stationed in the Pacific during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. Wayne worked at Bendix until retirement and was a member of Ontwa Baptist Church in Edwardsburg, the Edwardsburg VFW and American Legion Post 303.
Wayne was married to Patricia Neff, who preceded him in death in 2010. On June 1, 1981 in Mishawaka, Wayne married the former Linda Webster, who survives. He is also survived by daughters, Olivia (Albert) Herzog of Louisiana, Constance Maddix of Mishawaka, Denise (William Manning) Osborn of New York; son, Steve Osborn of Louisiana; stepdaughters, Kelly (Dennis) Warner of Arizona, Louann (Rick) Waldron of Osceola and Leeann (Scott) Davis of Plymouth; stepsons, Scott (Sandy) Klein of Mishawaka and Terry Klein of Granger; grandchildren, Louis, Marianna, Veronica, Anthony, Nicholas and Amanda; step grandchildren, Brook, Shannon, Matt, Jason, Shelby, Brayden, Mindy, Danica, Anthony, Tyler, Natalie, Samantha, Andrea and Kaitlyn; great grandchildren, Harland, Kennedy, Chase, Lane and Adelaide; step great grandchildren, Shayla, Savannah, Cheyenne, Jacob, Cora, Madison, Aurora, Hailey, Brooklyn, Kameron, Emilee, Henry and Gracie; one sister, Linda (Rick) Garwick of New Carlisle, IN; and two brothers, Wyburn (Deanna) Osborn of Tavares, FL and Willard (Pamela) Osborn of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Larry Klein; daughter-in-law, Margaret DeMain; and brothers, Walter, Ward, Wesley and Warren “Doc” Osborn.
Memorial services for Wayne will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Ontwa Baptist Church, 69946 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg, MI. Rev. Michael Elsey will officiate. Friends may visit with the family for two hours prior to services in the church as well as during a carry-in luncheon to follow services at the church. Military graveside honors and burial will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
